Main Story

The Transportation Access Program team is proud of the work that we have accomplished this year! We could not have accomplished this without the constant feedback, engagement of community, and partnership with our partner organizations. We are so grateful! We can’t wait to continue our work in 2026, learning and exploring how we can continue to provide community-centered transit access opportunities for Seattle’s most marginalized and historically excluded communities. Here is a short list of our victories from this year. Thanks for TAP-ping with us 😊

2025 Accomplishments

Education & Engagement

  • Hosted our second Youth Summit supporting 30 young people engaging in regional transit
  • Completed 16 field trips with local senior and community centers travelling to a variety of locations (e.g. Seattle Aquarium, West Seattle using the Water Taxi, Museum of Flight, etc.) with three new incredible transit education partners  including SouthEast Seattle Senior Center, Neighborhood House, and Horn of Africa Services.

Fare Subsidies

  • Launched largest-scale evaluation of the Seattle Housing Authority Transit Pass since the expansion to all 103 properties in 2023. Reached data collection goals with over 1650 surveys from SHA residents.

Research

  • Reached data collection goals and concluded data collection for Safe Access to Transportation Research! In partnership with 6 community partners, we collected over 1,000 surveys and conducted 25 focus groups with housing insecure individuals across our City.

Transit Safety and Security

  • Funded two outreach locations for King County Metro Transit Ambassadors, prioritizing locations based on transit rider data and equity outcomes. This work was funded by the Seattle Transit Measure.
  • Funded increased presence of King County Metro’s Transit Security Officer program at 2 locations, prioritizing hot-spot locations identified in partnership with Metro and informed by Metro’s Security Incident Reports and Coordinator Service Reports. This work was funded by the 2024 Transportation Levy.
  • Wrote and submitted a Statement of Legislative Intent on the landscape of regional transit passenger safety to City Council

Transportation Access Program (TAP) Updates

Data Analysis December

TAP is committed to making sure that the programs are working well for the communities that are using them. TAP has been working on two data analysis projects: 1) Program evaluation of the SHA Transit Pass and 2) Analysis findings from the exploratory study for the Safe Access to Transportation Research.

We have concluded data collection for both evaluations and will be spending the month of December cleaning and analyzing the data. We plan to publish reports outlining our findings from each of these analysis projects throughout 2026. We can’t wait to share what we learn with you and report on how we want to action findings from these analyses.
