TOMORROW: City of Seattle to Host Advance Media Tour for Pier 58 on Seattle’s Waterfront
Seattle – On Friday, July 25, Mayor Harrell, the City of Seattle’s Office of the Waterfront, Seattle Center and Friends of Waterfront Park will be joined by community and civic leaders to celebrate the completion and opening of Waterfront Park’s Pier 58. Located in the heart of the waterfront between Union and Pike streets, next to the Seattle Aquarium, the opening of Pier 58 is the last major project to complete the larger 20-acre Waterfront Park.
In advance of the public celebration, members of the media are invited to a private media preview tour on Wednesday, July 23, at 10 AM. Please anticipate this tour to last up to 1.5 hours. The city will provide an opportunity to tour the redesigned and rebuilt pier with the much-anticipated sea life themed play area that includes a 25-ft tall jellyfish-inspired climbing tower. Media will be able to capture visuals ahead of the opening and conduct interviews with key project leaders.
Press interested in attending the preview tour must RSVP to Iris Picat by 12 PM on Tuesday, July 22. Pants, close-toed shoes, construction vest, helmet and glasses are required to be on-site. PPE will be provided for guests that RSVP. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to get PPE on before entering the site.
