Aurora Ave N Expanded Bus Lane Hours go into effect on Sunday June 15th

Crews install over 600 new bus-only signs along Aurora Ave N

Now that all of the bus-only signs are posted on Aurora, the bus lanes are shifting from peak hours to all day, every day beginning Sunday June 15th. This means existing bus/parking lanes on Aurora will become 24/7 bus-only lanes to help ensure a reliable trip for people on the RapidRide E Line, while managing extra traffic on Aurora Ave during the upcoming I-5 closures.

What’s changing with Aurora Ave bus lanes?

  • Southbound: One lane from N 115th St to N 38th St will become a 24/7 bus lane.
  • Northbound: One lane from Prospect St to Lynn St, N 38th St to N 59th St, and from Winona Ave to N 115th St, will become a 24/7 bus lane.

What's Not Changing?

  • Southbound 24/7 bus-only lane from Lynn St to Roy St remains
  • Northbound 24/7 bus-only lane from N 115th St to N 145th St remains
  • Business and driveway access stays open
  • Right turns still allowed from the bus lane

What does this mean for parking and loading?

  • In general, the expanded hours of the bus lane mean there will no longer be parking or loading on Aurora as the new bus-only lane signs are installed. A few additional signs are being installed in locations where there will be parking and loading exceptions.
  • We recognize this is a change from your current routines. We encourage you to take transit to get to destinations on Aurora. For more information on ORCA transit passes, please visit Home | ORCA.
  • King County Metro offers discounted transit passes for employees and multifamily residents.  Please visit their websites for more information: ORCA Business Passport. and ORCA Multifamily Development Passport
