Celebrating over 50 years of success, the Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is excited to announce the opening of our application for the flagship Internship program.
We provide youth and young adults with valuable early career development and professional growth opportunities. Interns will receive up to 150 hours of paid work, gaining hands-on experience in government agencies, nonprofits, and local businesses. The program will run this summer from July 9, 2025 – August 26, 2025.
Important Date: The application deadline for youth and hosts is March 21, 2025.
For Youth: Application and Eligibility Details
To qualify, intern applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 16 and 24 years old at the start of the Internship program
- Reside within the Seattle city limits or attend Seattle Public Schools or Seattle Colleges (Seattle Central College, South Seattle College or North Seattle College)
- Live in a household with income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income

After Submitting Your Application

SYEP staff review applications for eligibility.
- Eligible participants will be invited to participate in the internship placement process.
- Applicants offered placement will be provided internship preparedness through training and development in June.

For Employer Hosts: Application Process
SYEP is seeking employers and experienced mentors to host interns. This is your chance to offer impactful experiences that help prepare youth for a promising career. In addition to our long-standing internship partnerships throughout the city, recent intern cohorts have requested real estate, information technology, healthcare, and business administration experiences.

- Complete and submit an Employer Interest Form.
- An SYEP team member will invite you to access the SYEP Employer Portal to create an account and access the application.
- Complete the application with all required supporting documents.
After Submitting Your Application
SYEP staff may contact you for additional information. After our placement process with prospective interns concludes, employers matched will receive intern details including steps to prepare for hosting an intern by the end of May.
