FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 28, 2026
Three community activation sites, beautification investments, and public safety preparations signal City’s readiness to welcome the world this summer.
SEATAC, WA — With FIFA World Cup 2026 matches beginning June 15 in the Seattle region, the City of SeaTac is moving quickly — and deliberately — to make sure its residents, businesses, and visitors are ready for one of the largest sporting events in the world. As home to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, three Link Light Rail stations, and one of the most genuinely international communities in the Pacific Northwest, SeaTac is not a bystander to this moment. The City is investing in it. Here is a look at what you can expect in the weeks ahead!
Summer Fun: Three FIFA Activation Sites, Amazing Food & Entertainment
Beginning June 1 with a soft opening and fully operational through July 19, the City of SeaTac will operate three community activation sites offering free programming, food, entertainment, and a welcoming gathering place for residents and visitors throughout the World Cup period. Sites are planned to operate daily.

In partnership with Stoup Brewing and Por Vida NW, the site will offer food, Stoup beers and other beverages, entertainment and community programming with a capacity of about 250 people. All of the games will be shown on the big screen. Hours of operations are approximately 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Various locations along International Boulevard, SeaTac
Featured alongside a theme of "Where the World Arrives" is SeaTac’s International Dining District. The district is actively being marketed to travelers through airport terminal placements, light rail stations, trains, busses, banners, and social media, positioning SeaTac’s diverse culinary offerings as a destination in their own right.

Also, This Summer — Check out Wednesdays at Angle Lake!
The summer kicks off in style on Wednesday, June 3, when the City of SeaTac hosts its State of the City address at The Roadhouse at Angle Lake — coinciding with the seasonal grand opening of the SeaTac Farmers Market. The pairing sets the tone for what Wednesdays at Angle Lake will look like all summer long.
The SeaTac Farmers Market runs Wednesdays, June 3 through October 28, at Angle Lake Station Plaza (19955 28th Ave. S.). Just steps away, The Roadhouse at Angle Lake offers live concerts and activities throughout the summer. Together with the Bullpen activation site next door, the Angle Lake neighborhood becomes one of SeaTac’s most vibrant midweek destinations — and all three are easily accessible via the Angle Lake Link Light Rail Station.
Getting SeaTac Ready: April and May Preparations
The activation sites are only part of the story. In the weeks leading up to June 1, SeaTac is undertaking a comprehensive set of improvements designed to make the city look its best, keep residents safe, and ensure everyone — from longtime residents to first-time visitors — can find their way around.
Beautifying SeaTac Together
This spring, the City of SeaTac is placing a special emphasis on beautification — and residents and businesses are invited to be part of it.
The effort kicks off with a Housing Forum on April 29 and builds throughout May as the community comes together for a Great SeaTac Scrub Down to get the City looking its best before the world arrives.
Here are a few ways to get involved:
-
Adopt-a-Street — Adopt a stretch of roadway and help keep SeaTac’s streets clean and welcoming throughout the summer. Litter pickers, bags, gloves and vests are also available to anyone who wants to pick up litter in the Right of Way without registering as an Adopt-a-Street group.
-
Compost Club — Join neighbors in reducing waste and keeping the city clean during one of its busiest seasons.
-
SeaTac Scrub Down— A citywide cleanup event planned for May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at Angle Lake Park. More details will be posted soon at seatacwa.gov.
-
Free Removal of a Large Item – Included with their garbage service, residents are allowed to dispose of one large item per year. Call your hauler, Recology at 206-767-1166 to schedule a pickup.
The City will also be deploying new wayfinding signage and freshly wrapped waste receptacles throughout the city this spring. Together, these investments ensure SeaTac is at its best when the games begin.
Public Safety and Community Preparedness
SeaTac’s public safety departments are also not waiting for the games to start. Police, Fire, Parks, Public Works, and Emergency Management are coordinating now on crowd management, weather safety, traffic impacts, and public health.
-
Emergency preparedness planning is underway, with coordinated protocols for crowd safety, road closures, and service impacts during peak activation and game days.
-
The City is working with hotels, businesses, and community organizations on human trafficking awareness, signage, and education — a critical component of responsible event hosting.
-
Naloxone distribution and opioid response resources are being coordinated with local partners to protect public health throughout the FIFA period.
-
An Event Action Plan is being developed in coordination with regional partners to ensure a safe environment at all activation sites.
-
Emergency Management will be activating an Emergency Coordination Center in conjunction with neighboring jurisdictions.

To Recap...
Community Events and Engagement
-
A Housing Forum is scheduled for April 29, continuing the City’s commitment to resident-centered policy conversations even as FIFA preparations accelerate.
-
The State of the City address will be held on Wednesday, June 3, at The Roadhouse at Angle Lake — coinciding with the seasonal grand opening of the SeaTac Farmers Market. The event marks SeaTac’s formal welcome to the FIFA summer and is open to the community.
-
A FIFA and City Events Calendar will be published in May on the seatacwa.gov website, giving residents a complete picture of what is happening, where, and when throughout the summer.
Programming at all three activation sites is planned to run daily from June 1 through at least July 19 — and potentially through December 31, 2026. Each site will have designated emphasis days with expanded programming and higher anticipated attendance. A complete schedule will be published at seatacwa.gov as details are finalized.
Following the FIFA period, the City will continue its investments: a Post-FIFA phase will include citywide enhancements, post-event reporting, and a Bullpen remediation and ground-breaking event as the site moves toward its long-term role as a community asset in the Angle Lake neighborhood.
