Human Services Commission Seeks New Members
REDMOND, WA - The City of Redmond is seeking applicants for an open seat on the Human Services Commission. Applicants must live or work inside Redmond city limits at a 98052 zip code or live in unincorporated King County at a 98053 zip code. The commission’s role is to advise the Mayor and Council on general human services topics and to make specific funding recommendations as part of the City’s budget process every two years. Commission meetings are mandatory and held in a hybrid format, in person at City Hall (15670 NE 85th Street) or online, on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. All board and commission members are volunteers.
Candidates should have an interest in a broad spectrum of human service topics, including basic needs, health care, counseling, domestic violence, and family support. Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a willingness to learn and a passion for working to strengthen the City’s effectiveness in addressing these topics. Individuals who work for or serve on the board of directors of a human service agency receiving funding from the City are not eligible for consideration.
To learn more about the commission or to apply, visit the Human Services Commission webpage. There is no deadline, but interested individuals are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 31. This position will remain open until filled.
