Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond is recruiting three new volunteer members for the Parks and Trails Commission. Two vacant positions are open to Redmond residents residing within city limits (98052 zip code), and one position is open for those who live outside the city limits but have a Redmond postal address. The City is committed to having a commission that reflects the diversity of the community and encourages applicants who care about parks and trails. The City appreciates and welcomes diverse perspectives that contribute to the inclusiveness of the City. Parks and Trail Commissioners meet on the first Thursday of every month. There are two four-year terms, and one two-year term available.

In addition to monthly meetings, commissioners participate on special committees and attend public meetings and events. They cultivate community engagement around Parks and Recreation Department projects and programs as well as occasionally attend City Council and other commission meetings. The Commission interfaces with the broader community, so that it can represent community members’ interests to the City Council. The City values the ability for commissioners to connect with a broad diversity of residents residing in Redmond.

The work program for the commission currently includes advising staff and City Council on the Redmond Pool renovation, Westside Park renovation, the future of Redmond’s Community Centers, trails projects, recreational programming fees and strategies, implementation of the Tree Canopy Strategic Plan’s goals for public education and outreach and the American’s with Disabilities Act Transition Plan for parks and facilities, and various planning and capital projects.
