REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond has an opening on the Human Services Commission for anyone who lives or works within Redmond’s city limits. The City is looking for a candidate interested in a broad spectrum of human service issues including basic services, health care, counseling, domestic violence and family support.

The Commission’s role is to advise the Mayor and Council on general human services issues and to make specific funding recommendations as part of the City’s budget process every two years. Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in the issues, a willingness to learn and a passion for working to strengthen the City’s effectiveness in addressing these issues. Please note that individuals who work for or serve on the board of directors of a human service agency delivering services to city residents are not eligible for consideration.

The seven-member Commission currently meets the second Monday of each month from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the Council Conference Room, Redmond City Hall. All board and commission members are volunteers. Applicants must complete a community service application. The deadline for applications is 5 pm on October 7, 2016.

To apply, print out and complete the community service application at www.redmond.gov/Government/BoardsCommissions/ and either mail to the Office of the Mayor, City of Redmond, PO Box 97010, Redmond, WA 98073-9710 or fax to 425-556-2110. A copy of the community service application is also available in the Mayor’s Office on the fourth floor of City Hall.
