Happy New Year!
Welcome. If this is your first time reading the Kitsap County Community Development (DCD) newsletter, subscribe to Community Development News to receive email or text notifications of our bimonthly newsletters and other important Community Development news. In our newsletters, we provide information about upcoming opportunities to be involved in the community planning process and helpful tips and information to navigate the permitting process successfully.
This year, the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners will decide on a preferred alternative for the Comprehensive Plan, and the final documents will be released. It’s not too late to get involved. Read more information below and catch up on the Comprehensive Plan Update page.
Did you know that Community Development encompasses more than just a permitting department? In this issue, you can get to know Shore Friendly Kitsap and take a brief survey to help them tailor their upcoming workshop. Last year’s workshop, Planning for Change, filled up quickly. We are also the new home to the Noxious Weed Program; read more below.
Next Issue
We are coming to the end of our Single Family Residence’s, A Permit’s Journey. In our next issue, we will explore the Inspection stage. We’ll also bring them all together for you to gather a better understanding of the permit process from intake to completion.
Thanks for participating in the DCD Customer Survey. In the next issue, we will summarize the survey results and what we are doing to implement solutions.
2021 Building Code Implementation, what can you expect from us, and what we expect from you.
Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Has a New Home
The Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Program is back and has a new home in the Department of Community Development’s Environmental Programs. The Department hired a new Noxious Weed Control Program Coordinator – Jade Jarvis. Additionally, the Board of County Commissioners recently appointed three new members to the Kitsap County Noxious Weed Control Board.
Help Tailor Shore Friendly Kitsap's Upcoming Workshop
Shore Friendly Kitsap has worked with over 150 marine waterfront homeowners, empowering them with the knowledge to manage their property in the best way possible. We connect waterfront landowners with technical support and resources for bulkhead removal. Our goal is to help waterfront landowners make informed, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly decisions about shoreline management. Whether you are thinking about restoring your shoreline or are actively pursuing a restoration project, we are here to help.
As we set our 2024 program goals, we seek your feedback to tailor our upcoming workshop! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
