Road Services crews are in the final stages of replacing the 100-year-old Ames Lake Trestle Bridge, located on Ames Lake-Carnation Road NE between West Snoqualmie Valley Road NE and NE 52nd Street.
Construction is moving forward, but cold, snowy, and rainy weather has delayed important work like paving the bridge and installing guardrail. The bridge is now expected to reopen to the public in mid-to-late April.
We’ve received reports of people moving or squeezing through barricades attempting to walk or bike across the closed bridge. Not only is this extremely dangerous, it put lives at risk and could also further delay the reopening. The bridge remains an active construction zone and is not safe for bicyclists, motorcycles, vehicles, or pedestrians. We kindly ask for the community’s patience and cooperation as crews complete the remaining work.
Thank you for your patience as crews work to reopen the bridge as soon as it is safe to do so.
Burlap barriers along the embankment help to prevent soil from sliding downward into Ames Creek.
The concrete bridge barriers have been installed, and the concrete bridge deck has been poured. It is covered in plastic to protect it until it receives final paving.
