The Building Services Section in King County's Facilities Management Division (FMD), is seeking to fill several Utility Worker I positions. The Utility Worker team is responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and equipment operation duties not associated with journey-level work in any skilled trade. This role is involves working with a variety of people in a variety of locations; no two days are the same!
Our ideal applicant is someone that has some experience in light maintenance, grounds cleaning, operating hand tools and wants to grow in our organization. This role is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door with county government. We highly encourage applicants of all backgrounds to apply.
Who are we We are a workforce of over 300 dedicated employees, FMD operates and manages the County's capital assets by developing and maintaining cost-conscious, sustainable, high-quality facilities. The Building Operations Section of FMD maintains approximately 3 million square feet in facilities where King County provides regional services, including the King County Courthouse and District Courts, Maleng Regional Justice Center, King County Administration Building, King County Animal Shelter, and several Public Health facilities. Our facilities range in age from 8 to 100 years old, with equipment such as boilers, chillers, DDC controls, ventilation fans, pumps and compressors, and fire/life/safety systems.

- The standard workweek is 40 hours, Monday - Friday.
- The hours for this role are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
- This work might be performed in multiple locations, including the Downtown Corridor, Kent, and/or the King County airport at the managers discretion.
