Modernizing Washington's sexually transmitted disease (STD) laws

The following announcement is being sent on behalf of the Department of Health (DOH).

DOH has been working with stakeholders to develop a legislative proposal modernizing Washington’s STD laws. The bill has been introduced in both the House (HB 1551) and the Senate (SB 5562).

Some additional changes in the bill are anticipated to add clarity and to potentially modify the penalties prescribed in the proposal. A factsheet describing key aspects of the current proposal, along with a table of specific proposed changes is available for viewing.

DOH would like to thank everyone who met with us and provided comments on the proposal. We incorporated feedback into the proposal that reflects the shared needs of Washington State.
