CAPITOL CAMPUS UPDATE

Reminder: Ceremony today will affect parking, traffic, noise on Capitol Campus
Event & Location: The 2022 Medal of Honor and Peace Officers Memorial ceremony will take place at the Law Enforcement Memorial located near the Temple of Justice overlooking Capitol Lake and the north Capitol Campus.
Event organizers Behind the Badge Foundation and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General estimate an attendance of 200.
There will be a 21-gun salute during the ceremony and rehearsal salutes earlier in the day. The salute and rehearsals will occur on the north side of the Temple of Justice at the Law Enforcement Memorial.
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, May 6. The practice volley will be occur between 8:30 and 10 a.m. The salute during the ceremony will occur at approximately 1 p.m.
Impacts: The event will cause impacts to parking as well as traffic on the West Campus on the day of the ceremony and the night before. The salute and related rehearsals will bring noise impacts.
May 6 closures during ceremony
- Cherry Lane Southwest from Winged Victory/Flag Circle to Water Street Southwest.
- The north and south diagonals (the short, one-way drives that run from Capitol Way South toward the Legislative Building).
- A section of 11th Avenue Southwest and Water Street from the corner of Columbia and 11th Avenue to Pleasant Lane (entrance to the Mansion lot).
- The hillside switchback trail below the Law Enforcement Memorial.
The flag circle will be available to provide access to Cherry Lane and parking areas. Please note that Intercity Transit is currently not running the Dash shuttle.
