Draft of Walla Walla’s updated Comprehensive Plan is available
The community is invited to review a draft of Walla Walla’s updated Comprehensive Plan 2046. Information about the plan and a PDF of the draft document are available on the City website at wallawallawa.gov/CompPlan.
A public hearing for the Comprehensive Plan will be held before the City Planning Commission at 6:30 p.m. on June 1, 2026, in the City Council Chambers in Walla Walla City Hall, 15 N. Third Ave. The meeting is open to the public, and comments will be taken.
The Comprehensive Plan is Walla Walla’s guiding document for managing growth and shaping the city’s future over the next 20 years. It outlines the vision, goals and policies that will help city leaders address critical issues, from housing and transportation to economic development, parks and public services.
Washington's Growth Management Act (GMA) requires cities to update their comprehensive plans every 10 years. This ensures we are planning responsibly for growth, protecting the environment and providing the infrastructure and services our residents need.
This update to Walla Walla's Comprehensive Plan reflects new state requirements, responds to changing community needs and incorporates the latest data and trends.
About the update process
Resident participation in the update process is vital, as it ensures the plan reflects a wide range of perspectives. City staff conducted engagement activities in the community throughout 2025 and early 2026 to share information, gather input and involve residents, stakeholders and decision-makers in the update. These efforts included stakeholder interviews, a community survey, mini polls, open houses, written comments and other outreach. Staff have led presentations and briefings throughout the planning process to share updates, gather input and keep decision-makers and the community informed.
