 PRESS RELEASE March 5, 2018:

On March 3, 2018, at approximately 2:30 PM, deputies from the Island County Sheriff’s Office Camano Island Precinct were dispatched to a call for a body located on an un-improved parcel of land near Tamarack Lane, south Camano Island.

Detectives from the Island County Sheriff’s Office along with the Island County Coroner’s Office and members of the Washington State Patrol Crime lab team served several search warrants on the property and recovered the body of a white female who had been deceased for several days.  Based on the evidence it is believed she is the victim of a homicide.  Identification of the victim as well as cause of death is still pending.

Near the victim, detectives located a bunker dug into the hill side which contained a cache of supplies, firearms and ammunition.  These were seized as well.  Based on the evidence it appears that the victim was specifically targeted and this was not a random act. We are developing leads on a person of interest in the case and hope to release that information in the near future.

Anyone who wishes to provide information regarding the case should contact Detective Ed Wallace via the ICOM dispatch center at 360-679-9567 or tips@co.island.wa.us.

Additional media inquires should be directed to Sheriff Mark Brown via the ICOM dispatch center at 360-679-9567 or the Island County Sheriff's Office at 360-678-4422.
