“Being able to be your true self is one of the strongest components of good mental health.”
-- Lauren Fogel Mersy --

Miss Auburn 2025 Chandler Groce came to City Hall last week to film a video for our R.E.A.D.Y. campaign, where she talked about her own personal struggle with mental wellness.
At age 17, Chandler was diagnosed with schizophrenia, a rare disorder that hasn't slowed her down even a little.
Watch the full video and learn about Chandler's story. She's ready to discuss mental health -- are you?
Surprise! I know we JUST released three new episodes of That's so Auburn! but we're back with more! To celebrate Public Safety Telecoummincators Week next week, we invited Vonnie Mayer, Executive Director of Valley Comm 911, on the show to talk about what it means to be a 911 operator -- the ins and outs of the job, the difficulties of keeping our community safe, and the amazing stories in between. I hope you give it a listen!

This Sunday, I hope you’ll swing by Evergreen Park from 3 to 7 p.m. for a special community event hosted by Bella Red Salons and Third Dimension Salon. They’ll be offering free haircuts for kids as a fun way to wrap up Spring Break and get ready to head "Spring Back to School!" This is such a thoughtful and generous way to give bac and I’m so grateful to Carlin Jaster, Kristin Speakman, and Deana McFarlane for bringing this idea to Auburn.
The event will also feature Stacks food truck, and they’ll be collecting donations for the Auburn Valley Humane Society, so it’s a great chance to support more than one good cause. They’re expecting a talented team of 10–15 stylists ready to serve our families, and I know the smiles will be just as fresh as the haircuts.
If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello -- I hope to see you there!
📅 Sunday, April 13 ⏰ 3 - 7 p.m. 📍 Evergreen Park | 2631 55th Street SE 💲 Free!
There's a fun and very Auburn event for the whole community next weekend -- Peter Cotton Trail! This is a free, family-friendly event for all ages and abilities -- including our seniors and specialized recreation community -- and it’s such a great way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
You can track your finds with a printed scorecard (available starting April 14 at several locations around town) or just jot them down on your phone or notebook. Then, submit your findings online for a chance to win some awesome prizes, from gift cards and Squishmallows to family game packs and axe-throwing experiences! The list of participating parks will be released the evening of April 17, so keep an eye out. Let’s get outside, have some fun, and enjoy all that Auburn has to offer!

The mountain was out last week during a particularly sunny spring Friday, so our communications team did what they do best -- flew a drone and took a photo.
Auburn is rich with history — from historical Main Street to the artifacts preserved throughout White River Valley Museum — I am excited to share these stories with all of you each week.

Cugini Florists opened in October 1954 at their 265 East Main Street location in Auburn. The store was helmed by Josephine Cugini, who had begun selling flowers in her husband’s grocery store year earlier. Josephine’s floral business was so successful that the family shut down the grocery store, Cugini’s Shurefine Store, and after extensive remodeling reopened as Cugini Florists in a bright, midcentury modern space.
