“Family and friends with grins ear to ear will gather together—Thanksgiving is near!”
-- Sheri Wall --
Team Auburn and volunteers posing before Clean Sweep 2024
Thanksgiving is almost here and there's so much to be thankful for -- our amazing City of Auburn staff and the crucial work they do every day, my husband Kemon and our daughter Lucky, my brother Gary and of course, all of you out there. You make our city special and I wouldn't trade that for the world.
Auburn Food Bank volunteers gearing up for pre-holiday chaos!
I will be spending Wednesday working with the Auburn Food Bank to ensure families in our community have food on their tables. The people in Auburn are gracious and generous, and I am thankful for each of you and the gifts that you share with your neighbors every day.
Miss Auburn Maddy Lindsay and Miss Auburn's Teen Maddie McCarthy
May your Thanksgiving be filled with joy and enough -- enough food on your table, enough warmth in your home, enough family and friends to surround you and enough hope and love in your hearts to sustain you.
Mural unveiling at Auburn Airport
Please remember -- City of Auburn offices will close two hours early Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 3 p.m., and will remain closed Thursday and Friday. We’ll be back in the office bright and early on Monday morning!
Happy Thanksgiving!
While the Auburn Food Bank would appreciate a donation of time, food or money any time of year, it's especially important during the holidays as folks across the region struggle to afford a proper holiday meal.
Debbie Christian can turn just about any donation into something precious for those in need, and I hope this season we can fill the new Auburn Food Bank at 2804 Auburn Way North to the rafters!

Soon enough, the Auburn Community and Event Center will smell like fresh-baked gingerbread! I'm going to miss having them at City Hall, but at least they're back home!
Auburn is rich with history — from historical Main Street to the artifacts preserved throughout White River Valley Museum — I am excited to share these stories with all of you each week.

Auburn High School Boy’s Football team, 1933. Led by Captain Roy Calkins and Quarterback George Hirai (front, holding footballs), the Auburn High hosted the biggest football game in town – local newspapers reported on the outcomes of games with the same breathless prose usually reserved for national teams, especially when they battled rivals Kent High School for the coveted Taylor Trophy. Collegiate teams like the Huskies were also popular with local football fans, but Seattle wouldn’t have its own NFL team until 1976.
