“Being an ally can’t just be about nodding when someone says something we agree with – important as that is. It must also be about action. It’s our job to stand up for those who are not at the table when life-altering decisions are made.”
- Kamala Harris -
The City of Auburn Pride celebration continues Sunday at the Auburn Farmer's Market for Pride at the Market! I hope you can join us at the main stage at 10 a.m. to kick off the day's festivities, which will include a few words from UTOPIA Washington Health Clinic Director Tepatasi Vaina, Office of Equity Director Brenda Goodson-Moore, and me. Plus, I'm told there will be Pride shirts to purchase! Last year’s shirts were gone quickly – we didn’t know there would be such an interest (thank you!).
In Auburn, we work every day to embrace diversity and celebrate every individual's uniqueness, upholding equality, inclusivity, and respect. Everyone deserves to live authentically, free from discrimination and prejudice.
I am inspired by the LGBTQ+ community’s strength, resilience, and joy. Your visibility makes Auburn brighter and stronger.

Thank you for raising the Pride flag with us at City Hall!
Thank you Auburn for coming out to celebrate our annual tradition of raising the Pride flag at City Hall! Dozens of you gathered in our foyer (thanks, rain!) and heard beautiful words from Junior City Councilmember Rowan Santos, Utopia Washington's Executive Director Taffy Johnson, and Ebo Barton, Commissioner of the Washington State LGBTQ Commission.
Thankfully the clouds broke and were able to raise the flag, rain free – and take a few photos!
The City of Auburn is a better place because you're all in it.

Cheers to Team Auburn for their work on these award-winning facilities and programs!

This year marks the 41st Annual National Night Out. Many communities throughout the city will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, youth activities, and visits from City officials, staff, and police to get better acquainted with neighbors and promote a more connected Auburn.
Registration is now open to host an event! Visit our site for more information and we'll see you August 6!

In March, Lakeland Hills Elementary students, staff and community members helped collect 1,500 boxes of cereal (their goal was 1,200) so they could have a little fun and watch them all fall like dominoes. But in reality, it was to collect as much food as possible for the Auburn Food Bank!
The dominoes were just a little extra fun. If you haven't seen the video yet, please give it a watch! Lakeland Hills did an amazing job donating this much food to the food bank. If anything, watch it for how excited a group of elementary students are for what certainly must be a record for cereal box dominos! Thank you Lakeland Hills Elementary!
