A Message from Dr. Dustin Wright
City of Fairfax Superintendent
Dear City of Fairfax Schools Community,
As I conclude my third week serving as Superintendent, I want to take a moment to connect with you, share my appreciation, and express how excited and proud I am to be part of this remarkable school community.
These first few weeks have been busy, energizing, and incredibly affirming. I have spent time in our schools, meeting students, teachers, staff, and city partners, and getting to know the rhythms of a division that clearly puts students first. Everywhere I go, I see dedicated professionals, engaged families, and a community that cares deeply about public education and about one another.
I want you to know how proud I am to serve the City of Fairfax Schools—and how personally invested I am in this work. My family and I have called the City of Fairfax home for many years, and like so many parents here, I see firsthand the difference our schools make in the lives of children. That perspective keeps me grounded and continually reminds me why this work matters so much.
As I shared when I was introduced to the community, three commitments will guide my work as your superintendent: • keeping students at the center of every decision we make, • supporting and empowering our outstanding educators and staff, and • strengthening the connections between our schools and the broader community we serve.
A critical part of honoring those commitments—especially early on—is listening.
To that end, I am excited to share that we will be hosting three Community Listening and Learning Sessions in February: • February 4, 2026 at 6:30 – Fairfax HS Library • February 11, 2026 at 6:30 – Katherine Johnson MS Library • February 18, 2026 at 6:30 – Virtual, link to be provided closer to event
These sessions are designed to give families, staff, students, and community members an opportunity to share what makes our schools strong, where you see opportunities for growth, and what hopes you have for the future.
In the meantime—and beyond these sessions—I want to be clear: I am accessible, and I welcome your outreach. Whether you have a question, a concern, an idea, or simply want to introduce yourself, I encourage you to reach out.

As I continue to learn and listen, I am filled with pride—pride in our students, pride in our staff, pride in our schools, and pride in a community that believes in what public education can be at its very best. I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received and truly excited for the work ahead.
Thank you for your partnership, your trust, and your ongoing support of the City of Fairfax Schools. I look forward to learning with you, listening to you, and building a bright future together for every student in our city.
All the best,
Dustin Wright Superintendent City of Fairfax Schools
