Notice of Public Comment Period for Fast-Track Action to Repeal the Fee Requirements for Processing Applications, 8VAC20-830
|
The action to repeal the Fee Requirements for Processing Applications (8VAC20-830) will be published in the Virginia Register of Regulations (Volume 42, Issue 14) on February 23, 2026, initiating a 30-day public comment period that continues through March 25, 2026. The action will be finalized, and Chapter 830 will be officially repealed on April 9, 2026.
The fast-track action to repeal Fee Requirements for Processing Applications (8VAC20‑830) is a necessary action following the adoption of the new regulation, General Information for the Licensure of Child Day Programs and Family Day Systems and Background Checks (8VAC20-821). The new regulation, which became effective on February 1, 2026, incorporates the fee requirements for processing applications in Chapter 830 and reflects a simplified fee structure to align with VDOE’s licensure period change to a standard two years.
In general, fast-track actions are not expected to be controversial. The public comment period provides an opportunity to address support or opposition to the fast-track process.
Comments on fast-track action may be submitted via Regulatory Town Hall. To view and enter comments, view the Regulatory Active Forums and select Chapter 8VAC20-830 under the State Board of Education. In order to be considered, comments must be received by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the public comment period.
