April is Arlington Preparedness Month. The County encourages everyone to assess their emergency plans and create emergency kits. Watch the short video below for three easy tips you can use to prepare for an emergency.

It's finally here. Visit the Friends of the Arlington Public Library's Spring Book Sale April 3–6 to support library programs. Find thousands of books, games, and other items at incredible bargains.

Teachers and librarians with school IDs enjoy a 50% discount on purchases Friday and Saturday, while everyone saves 50% on Sunday.

There will be no parking available in the library garage. Visitors are encouraged to take public transportation/bike/walk/etc. to the Book Sale. Guests can then enter the garage via the Central Library elevator or garage stairwells.

Join us at the Leadership, Career, and Volunteer Expo on April 5. This free event includes seminars and opportunities to network with business leaders. Free headshots will also be available.

• The Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) is seeking public input on several transportation programs in the Northern Virginia region as part of their Commuter Choice program. 
  
  
• The Neighborhood Complete Streets Program wants your opinion on a concept design to improve safety at the S. Dinwiddie Street and 22nd Street S Intersection. 
   
• Arlington's Vision Zero program wants to know, "what we can we do to make transportation safer for you?" Share your feedback and concerns in our 4^th Annual Safety Feedback form by April 30.

• The application period for the Neighborhood Mini Grant Program is now open! Apply by June 30.
  
  
• Innovative companies and business leaders will gather in Arlington on April 10 for the Minority Vendor Showcase. Potential Customers are invited to attend for free.
  
  
• The County Board will act on several issues at its Regular Meeting on April 5, including applications related to building additional residential housing.
  
  
• A sign of the season. The Lubber Run Farmers Market returns on Saturday, April 5. 
   
• A treat for local book lovers during National Library Week: on April 10, best-selling author Curtis Sittenfeld is in town for the Arlington Reads series.
  
  
• The Arlingteens Leaders Summer Internship program is now accepting applications. Make sure to apply by April 15. 
  
  
• After more than two years of construction, the community is invited to the Grand Opening of Fire Station 8 on April 26. 
  
  
• Gardening with native plants is better for our woodlands and our local wildlife. The Spring Native Plant Sale is underway. Orders must be in by April 25. 

"Pink" Bloom at Met Park
