Make the holiday season a little happier for some of Arlington’s most vulnerable residents by taking part in the Department of Human Services’ Holiday Giving Program.

The application period for the Stormwater Utility Credit program will open Dec. 16 and run through Feb. 28. All property owners in Arlington can apply for voluntary credits offsetting a percentage of their Stormwater Utility bill.

Qualifying credit opportunities will be calculated based on the type of property and actions taken, such as tree planting, volunteer activities, and installing some types of pervious surfaces. Actions taken in Calendar Year 2024 will be eligible for credit on the first bill in May 2025.

*If you have a mandatory stormwater facility (installed as part of new home construction or other development project), you do not need to submit an application for credit. If you are in compliance with the required facility inspection, you will receive an automatic credit on your bill.

Balancing the Budget

Arlington faces multi-year budget pressures, including a high commercial vacancy rate, the impacts of collective bargaining negotiations, Metro funding, and increased demand for housing and human services programs. To continue being good stewards of taxpayer dollars, the County must make difficult budget decisions.
