NOAA Fisheries Announces Default Measures for the Start of the 2025 Scallop Fishing Year and Status of the Proposed Rule for Framework 39 to the Scallop Fishery Management Plan

NMFS is announcing that the 2025 default measures approved under Framework Adjustment 38 to the Atlantic Sea Scallop Fishery Management Plan will go into effect on April 1, 2025. Default measures will remain in place until Framework Adjustment 39 to the Atlantic Sea Scallop Fishery Management Plan is implemented (if approved).

The proposed rule for Framework 39 filed today, and will publish on Tuesday, Mar 18, 2025.  Public comments will be accepted through April 2, 2025.
