DOE Announces $8 Million to Integrate Solar Energy Production with Farming
DOE is investing $8 million in six projects that will support agrivoltaics—the co-location of agricultural production and solar-energy generation on the same land. The projects will evaluate multiple system designs and cultivation methods in various environmental conditions to maximize benefits for farmers and pave the way for large-scale deployment.

DOE Recognizes Better Buildings Partner City of Chattanooga, TN for Energy Efficiency Achievements
As part of the Better Buildings Challenge, the City of Chattanooga, TN, hosted DOE for a tour of its Moccasin Bend Environmental Campus to showcase its successful energy, water, and cost savings measures. To improve the facility’s efficiency and performance, the city installed a 10-acre solar array and several energy efficiency measures that reduced the campus’ energy consumption by 27% and its water consumption by 24%, saving $1.4 million per year.
