The Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a phased plan for the re-opening of southern ports for livestock trade in response to the New World Screwworm situation.

Under the proposed timeline:

Del Rio, Texas may re-open as early as August 18
Laredo, Texas may follow with a target date of September 15

These dates are subject to change as the USDA continues to assess the risk and monitor developments related to the New World Screwworm.
