CSMS # 63784394 - Chile Will Soon Provide Electronic Certification (eCert) Data to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)
The government of Chile will soon be sending electronic certification (eCert) data to the USDA, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for products under FSIS jurisdiction exported to the United States. Once implemented, paper inspection certificates issued by the Central Competent Authority (CCA) in Chile will not be required by FSIS.
The specific PG records needed for FSIS applications submitted electronically through ACE for both eCert and non-eCert countries are outlined in the FSIS guidance document (IG)Data Samples and Guidelines for Using the Partner Government Agency (PGA) Message Set for Electronic Completion of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) Application for Import Inspection (FSIS Form 9540-1). In the event that the importer or U.S. Customs Broker submits the application data via FSIS form 9540-1, the data elements required are outlined in FSIS Directive 9900.4.
Please check with your software vendors to see if updates are needed to accommodate FSIS filings for eCert from Chile. FSIS will provide a specific start date once available, though this change is expected to occur by March 31, 2025.
