Out-of-network providers will no longer be paid by the Program
Effective September 30, 2024, the WTC Health Program cannot authorize payment for care provided by out-of-network providers who are not a part of the NPN or CCE.
Patients should call the MCA-Sedgwick call center as soon as possible at 1-800-416-2898, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm ET for help moving their WTC-related care to an in-network provider or renewing their single case agreement depending on their situation.
Reimbursement and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) sign-up
The WTC Health Program can pay WTC Health Program Participating providers via EFT. This secure method of payment ensures quicker and stress-free reimbursement. Providers are highly encouraged to sign-up to avoid delays in payment from the Program. For providers in a CCE, email WTCHP_Provider_Enrollment@gdit.com for more information. For providers in the NPN, email WTCNPN-ProviderServices@sedgwickgovernment.com.

Initial health evaluations and how to certify conditions
Before eligible responders and survivors can receive treatment and monitoring health benefits covered by the Program, they must first get their 9/11-related health condition certified. The process begins with the CCE/NPN assessing the survivor's illness through a one-time initial health evaluation covered by the Program. The initial health evaluation will determine whether the member has a 9/11-related health condition and is eligible for follow-up monitoring and treatment.
Certification is essential for ensuring compliance with regulations and providing appropriate services in the Program. To obtain certification, a CCE/NPN submits health condition certification requests using the WTC-3 form. The WTC Health Program reviews and evaluates each request, resulting in one of three decisions:
- certification,
- denial (with the right to appeal), or
- suspension pending additional information.
The WTC Health Program's Administrative Manual is available online and provides additional information about the certification process and initial health evaluations.

Best Practices for Clinical Care
To promote and preserve high-quality medical care within the WTC Health Program and highlight best practices in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases associated with 9/11, the Program released helpful resources for clinicians. Articles covering aerodigestive conditions, cancers, and mental health conditions can be accessed on our website.
Webinars in the Best Practices for Clinical Care series are recorded and generally available within four weeks after the live session. Continuing Education credit is available for select webinars. View past webinars on the Program website.
