Placefirst to deliver 350 high quality homes on brownfield land
An ambitious multi-million-pound city living development has been announced for City of Wolverhampton’s Canalside Quarter.
Placefirst, an award-winning build-to-rent developer, has revealed the first image of the Canalside project, a scheme to deliver 350 high-quality homes on five acres of brownfield land off Lower Horseley Fields in the city centre.
Featuring a mix of new build homes and sensitive restoration of heritage properties, Canalside is designed to build upon the architectural character of the area aligned to the historic canal network, providing a new canalside promenade and a mix of semi-private and public realm open spaces, all interacting with the historic canal basin. Council partner CityFibre starts laying fibres in Wolverhampton

Full fibre network construction is now underway to connect public sector premises across the City of Wolverhampton.
It forms part of the council’s overall Digital Infrastructure Strategy to improve broadband connectivity to enable smart technology and accessibility for all, improved digital infrastructure complementing electric vehicle growth and sustainable transport.
The council last month announced the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform, CityFibre, as its preferred rollout partner. Read more...
New method supports environmentally friendly roads in Wolverhampton

City of Wolverhampton Council, in partnership with Tarmac, has resurfaced its first road using a new type of sustainable asphalt - supporting environmentally friendly roads in the city.
Northycote Lane is the first road in Wolverhampton to trial a new asphalt technology that uses rubber crumb from the 40 million waste tyres produced every year and is a sustainable alternative to resurface local roads.
Approximately 500 recycled tyres were mixed into the asphalt to create the new road surface. Read more...
