Nominations are open for the NK Community Champion Awards 2021

Whether through self-nomination or encouraging expressions of enthusiasm from customers, we’d love to hear more about your community-minded businesses activities.

The NK Community Champion Awards programme has a specific category to champion community-minded businesses and this year a new category is looking to tease out and celebrate those businesses which are making a Contribution to Climate Action.

Other award categories may prove valid and attractive too in seeking out great examples of businesses that look beyond the bottom line by giving back to their community showcase in support of a better environment, art and culture, sports, health & wellbeing, community safety etc. There’s also the Coronavirus Response category that looks to champion people, businesses or organisations that have excelled and responded with consideration through the ongoing pandemic - possibly by setting up deliveries or special arrangements to protect and provide for customers and communities.

Take a look at the full list of 12 categories at www.NKawards.org where you can nominate too, please note the deadline for nominations is Monday 6 September.

The awards are only made possible through the generous support of other community-focused businesses committed to serving the community of North Kesteven and making a positive difference.

In all cases the NK Community Champion Awards are looking to honour selfless, tireless voluntary endeavour which goes above and beyond paid-for remunerated work; which is carried out in the interests of promoting a better, safer, more fulfilling and flourishing place to live or encouraging individuals or groups to fulfil their potential. In the case of businesses they look to champion that extra factor of going-beyond, being community-minded and doing more than is necessary for commercial success.

Government-backed insurance scheme to give boost to events industry

The live events sector is set to get a boost with a world-leading Government-backed insurance scheme worth over £750 million, which will help them plan events with confidence through to next year.

As the economy continues its recovery beyond the lifting of Covid restrictions, getting the right kind of insurance is acting as a barrier for some events organisers. The Government has partnered with Lloyd’s to deliver the Live Events Reinsurance Scheme as part of the Plan for Jobs. The scheme will see the Government act as a ‘reinsurer’ – stepping in with a guarantee to make sure insurers can offer the products events companies need. Further information here.
