In June, Totally Locally are running the national campaign Fiver Fest. The two week event offers independent businesses the chance to work together and encourage people to shop in their local villages and towns, whilst offering a discount to new and returning customers.

The Home Office is advising businesses that the deadline for applications to be made to the EU Settlement Scheme (30 June 2021) is nearing.
It is therefore important that all businesses check with their EU, EEA and Swiss employees who were resident in the UK by 31 December 2020, to make sure that they have already applied or will do so before the deadline so that this doesn’t impact on staffing. See here for more information.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Business and Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng have called on every small business in the UK to take small, practical steps to cut their emissions as part of the UK’s journey to net zero. NKDC's target is to reach net zero by 2030, and every individual and business can play their part.
Together they will launch the Together for our Planet ‘Business Climate Leaders’ campaign, a new drive to encourage small and micro businesses to commit to cutting their emissions in half by 2030 and to net zero by 2050 or sooner through the new UK Business Climate Hub.
Small businesses can use the hub to find practical tools, resources and advice to understand their emissions and develop a plan to tackle them. For more information please see here.
The green technology required to help the UK meet its world-leading climate targets has been given a £166.5 million cash injection, just 6 months on from the publication of the Prime Minister’s 10 Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution.
The multi-million pound investment, awarded to innovators, businesses, academics and heavy industry right across the UK, will accelerate the delivery of the critical game-changing technologies needed to further drive Britain’s climate change ambitions, while creating over 60,000 jobs across the UK.

The UN Food Systems Summit competition ‘Best Small Business: Good Food for All’ will identify the best SMEs from across the world transforming food systems for a better tomorrow.
The competition closes for applications on 6 June 2021 and any business can apply if it has between five and 250 employees and plays a role in any aspect of the food value and supply chain. Government and insurers have agreed to end the successful temporary trade credit scheme. The Government and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) announced that the temporary Trade Credit Reinsurance (TCR) scheme will close on 30 June as planned.
The scheme has directly benefitted over half a million businesses, providing certainty to firms across the UK and safeguarding jobs. It protected more than £575 billion of business turnover by providing around £210 billion in insurance cover. Further info here.
