 News and updates:
 Electric waste collection vehicle trial
RVS, a specialist vehicle converter, has provided us with a retro-fitted electric waste collection vehicle to trial.
The former diesel powered vehicle has been ‘repowered’ to transform it into an electric vehicle. The e-one, shown in the image, is being put through its paces on our Cranbrook and Tithe Barn rounds this week.
The trial, with a converted vehicle, will help us assess if the future conversion of our diesel fleet of waste collection vehicles is a viable option.
This trial is one of a series that we are carrying out to help us plan the low emission fleet of the future, as we progress the decarbonisation of our operations.

Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone sponsoring Devon Women in Business awards
Do you know a Devon woman in business demonstrating a commitment to great environmental ethics, eco-friendly products or services, sustainability, local purchasing or lowering their carbon footprint? If so, nominate them for an award.
Councillor Paul Arnott, Leader of East Devon District Council and Chair of Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone Board, said:
“At the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone, we are focussing on delivering our vision for clean growth, supporting businesses to create net zero carbon solutions. By sponsoring the Devon Women in Business Eco Friendly Business of the Year category, we want to highlight the crucial contributions made by women in the built environment sector. We hope this recognition will inspire more women to work within the sectors responding to the climate emergency, challenge conventions and stimulate innovation.”
Broadclyst Neighbourhood Plan formally ‘made’
Following more than five years of dedicated hard work by Broadclyst Parish Council and local community volunteers, as well as the support of 88 per cent of voters in June's referendum, East Devon District Council has formally adopted (‘made’) their Neighbourhood plan. This means that it will carry its ‘full weight’ in the consideration of planning applications in the parish until 2031.
Explore a new 52-acre parkland outside Exeter
Councillor Martin Wrigley (Leader of Teignbridge District Council), Councillor Percy Prowse (Chair of Devon County Council), Hannah Bosence (Land Trust), and Councillor Emma Morse (Chair of South-East Devon Habitats Regulations Partnership).
On Saturday, 12 August, Ridgetop Park at Matford was officially opened.
South East Devon Wildlife, a partnership between East Devon, Exeter and Teignbridge District Councils, designed this picturesque 52-acre site to help protect important wildlife sites such as the Exe Estuary and the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths by providing appealing, alternative outdoor places to visit.
With recent research discovering big benefits from walking just 4,000 steps a day, why not visit this new park for a change of scenery?
