Help NHS Devon help you – use 111 online

NHS Devon

With winter viruses such as flu, Covid-19 and Norovirus on the rise, we’re more likely to be feeling under the weather at this time of year.

While most illnesses can be safely treated at home, or with advice from your pharmacy, if you do become very unwell and need urgent healthcare, there’s medical advice online or by phone 24 hours a day at NHS 111.

Staff at NHS 111 can also refer patients through to Minor Injuries Units and Urgent Treatment Centres. This ensures people get to the right place for treatment quickly and may reduce their waiting times.

Christmas wrapping paper and cards to avoid to be more eco-friendly

Christmas cards

Preparing for Christmas? Don't forget to avoid buying cards, wrapping paper and gift bags that have foil or glitter on them or are plastic coated, as shown in the image.

These are non-recyclable and will need to be put in your wheeled refuse bin instead.

Plain cards and wrapping paper can be recycled, please place them with your other cardboard items in your green recycling box.

Thank you for making planet friendly choices to enable us to recycle as much as we can.

EDDC trials electric recycling vehicle

Terberg EDDC recycling lorry

EDDC recycling team are testing an all-electric collection vehicle.

As part of our on-going research for the decarbonisation of our recycling operations, the team are currently trialling an all-electric recycling vehicle.

The vehicle has been supplied by Terberg and you may spot it quietly ‘gliding’ around our collection rounds as it is put through its paces.

The trial of this developing large vehicle technology, which is in its infancy, will help us decide on the low emission fleet of the future.

A lovely message from Honiton Carers Creative Sessions at THG

Honiton carer

We have said goodbye for now to Anna and colleagues at Thelma Hulbert Gallery after enjoying 11 months of Art and Craft sessions.

We have had a great time learning so many different things and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the gallery for making us feel so welcome and for tiding up the awful mess we have made after each session.

Our last session was a Christmassy theme making festive bunting and boxes.

Anna had even made truffles for us, and we could finish them off by choosing which topping we enjoyed most.

Thank you, Anna, for going the extra mile. Much appreciated.
