Flowers in full bloom at Northbrook Park

Exeter’s Northbrook Park springs into life

Exeter’s newest park has sprung into life, with spring flowers blooming in the April sunshine.

Walkers can take in the spring colours at Northbrook Park whilst dodging the April showers!

Spring is definitely in full swing at the 4.5-hectare site just off the Topsham Road.

The former golf course, which is owned by the City Council and managed by Devon Wildlife Trust, is being turned into a tranquil greenspace for people and wildlife.

When is my bin collected?

Bank holiday bin collection schedule

Due to the upcoming bank holiday, bin collections for refuse, recycling, food, and garden waste in Exeter will be delayed by one day.

Residents are reminded that they can check their bin collection dates online at any time to ensure they don't miss a collection: exeter.gov.uk/bincollections

Please return your postal votes

Don't forget to return your postal vote

People in Exeter who have received their postal votes are being encouraged to complete and return them in the post as soon as possible.

The postal votes were sent out by Exeter City Council on Thursday 16 April and everyone who applied for one will receive theirs soon.

The postal votes have been sent out for the elections for Devon County Council, which will be held throughout Exeter on Thursday 1 May.  There will also be by-elections for two City Council wards on the same day, in Mincinglake & Whipton, and Topsham.    

Book Market set for bigger and better return
Book lovers are being urged to mark their calendars for the return of Exeter City of Literature’s Book Market.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Panto season is just around the corner – “oh yes it is!”

It may only be Easter but thoughts have already turned to Christmas, with Exeter Northcott and Le Navet Bete revealing this year’s Christmas panto. 

Following the success of Dick Whittington and Cinderella, the panto team take on the most enormous story of them all… Jack and the Beanstalk. Exeter City Council supports Exeter Northcott Theatre. 

According to the organisers, the panto looks set to deliver “Laughs, thrills, spills, special effects and giant amounts of fun combine in a spectacular production for all ages. It’s the story you know and love in a version you’ll never forget.” 

Down on their Devon farm live Dame Trott, Daisy the Cow, Jack, and his sister Jill, all working hard and dreaming of pots of gold in the sky. But when they are sold some Magic Beans™️ by a strange and mysterious bean seller, their lives become decidedly less earthbound!  

Will the evil Fleshcreep cause havoc? Will Jack and Jill find true happiness? Will Dame Trott manage to climb the beanstalk in nine-inch heels?
