Your views wanted in Budget and Corporate Plan consultation

Residents in the city are being urged to share their views about the services provided by the Council and how resources should be prioritised in the future.

The Budget and Corporate Plan consultation is open for eight weeks from 18 November until 9 January, and all residents are encouraged to take part by completing an online survey.

The Council is committed to listening to and engaging with residents to continuously improve service provision and inform decision-making.

It is asking residents to provide feedback on two important issues – the Council’s Budget from April 2025 until the end of March 2026, and the city’s key priorities for the years ahead.

The first part of the consultation asks for feedback on how the Council can make best use of its resources to set a balanced budget in the financial year 2025/2026.

The second part of the consultation asks residents to have their say on the Council’s key priorities for the future, which will be set out in its emerging new Corporate Plan.

Feedback on what is most important will help councillors make decisions both on the Council’s short-term spending plans and its longer-term priorities.

New benches show the power of recycling at Exeter City’s St James Park

Exeter City fans can relax at the stadium before big games on benches made from recycled waste plastic – including old seats from the ground.

Council Leader Phil Bialyk was shown the benches ahead of last weekend’s home game against Lincoln City.

The Leader spent time talking to Andy Holloway from #Cans4City and Matt Hulland, Resource Recovery Manager at Exeter City Council, about the new recycled benches made from waste plastic seats from the club, ocean plastics, and household plastics.

The benches were made in collaboration with Circular 11, from Bournemouth, who specialise in making products from waste.

Enjoy carols in the majestic setting of Exeter Cathedral

With Christmas fast approaching, people are being given the chance to attend a carol service in the majestic setting of Exeter Cathedral in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.

The Lord Mayor of Exeter and The Dean and Chapter of Exeter Cathedral’s Carol Service takes place on Monday 2 December at 2pm and is free to attend.

However, there will be a collection at the end of event, which will be split between FORCE - this year’s Lord Mayor’s charity – and the Cathedral.

The Carol Service will be supported this year by the Exeter Railway Band and The Maynard School with a guest appearance of Mums Choir Exeter.

Entry to the service will be on a first come first served basis.
