Newly Certified and New Teacher Hires 2024-2025 Dashboard

The Newly Certified and New Teacher Hires Dashboard, managed by the Educator Data, Research and Strategy Division at the Texas Education Agency, has been updated to reflect newly certified and newly hired teachers from the 2024-2025 school year. These dashboards provide information about the pathways to being hired as a teacher for newly hired educators. These dashboards provide data from 2009-2010 through 2024 -2025 and provide a summary of data at the state, region, and school system level.

This year’s updates include: 1) addition of another year of data 2) implementing a minimum of 0.5 FTE to be included in the population of newly hired teachers and 3) addition of previously part-time teachers as a pathway for new hires

Example: The following chart summarizes the breakdown of New Teacher Hires in the 2024-2025 school year.

New Teacher Hires Breakdown
  • As measured by this dashboard, there was a total of 43,771 newly hired teachers in the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Of these 43,771 newly hired teachers:
    • 31% were without a Texas teacher Certification or SBEC-issued teacher Permit.
    • 34% were teachers reentering the workforce after a period of time where they were not employed as a teacher in Texas public schools.
    • 12.3% were Standard Certified teachers, which indicates that these teachers completed clinical student teaching prior to being a teacher of record. Some of these teachers entered immediately after completing their preparation and receiving a certification while others had a period of time before employment.
