Out-of-Field Teaching 2023-2024 Dashboard

The Out-of-Field Teaching Dashboard, maintained by the Educator Data, Research, and Strategy team at Texas Education Agency has been updated with the latest data from the 2023-2024 academic year. This dashboard presents information on the amount of courses in specific subject areas and grade levels delivered by teachers not certified in that subject area or grade level.
In addition to the dashboard, this data is available in report format presenting in-field and out-of-field assignments for the 2023-2024 school year by grade level and subject area.
The following dashboard view summarizes Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) for subject areas in High School:

As measured by the dashboard, approximately 20% of English Language Arts and Reading courses (taught in High School) were taught by individuals who did not have a certification for English Language Arts and Reading Instruction in the 2023-2024 school year. This compares to 19% in the 2022-2023 school year.
