Trends in Employed Teacher Demographics
The Employed Teacher Demographics reports (updated in March 2023) that are maintained by the Educator Data, Research and Strategy team present numbers and percentages of regular classroom teachers and substitute teachers assigned as teachers of record, as well as totals aggregated by gender and race/ethnicity.
The Classroom Teacher Gender by Role table is suited to answer questions such as:

How many classroom teachers were assigned as teachers of record in the 2022-2023 school year? 377,836 classroom teachers were assigned as teachers of record in 2022-2023.

How many of these teachers were female? Of these 377,836 teachers, 75.6% (285,499) were female.
The Classroom Teachers by Race/Ethnicity and Role report is best suited to answer questions such as:

What percentage of all teachers were Black/African American in the 2022-2023 school year? 11.9% (45,510) of all teachers were Black/African American in 2022-2023.

What percentage of substitute teachers were Hispanic/Latino in the 2022-2023 school year? 34.5% of substitute teachers (1,162) were Hispanic/Latino in 2022-2023.
