TREC Extending All Application and Renewal Deadlines

Hurricane Harvey has caused extensive damage across Texas. TREC and TALCB will extend August and September license expiration dates by an additional 30 days. This means that any license with an expiration date of 8/31/17 and 9/30/17 will be extended to 10/31/17. This is true for all license types.

From the Chair

The Commission met on August 7th for its regular quarterly meeting.  Because of the number of bills that passed during the 2017 legislative session affecting the agency’s license holders and the agency’s operations, a large number of draft rules were proposed. Combined with a large number of Proposals for Decision (PFD) arising out of cases that were heard at the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH), the Commission meeting was substantially longer than a typical meeting.  And because of the fiscal year-end, the agency also had budgetary and internal audit issues to consider; a very full plate.

Scam Alert!

TREC has been made aware of a scam requesting money from our license holders. The request is sent by text by someone posing as the Texas Real Estate Commission and asks that a specified amount be paid through Square Cash and provides a link to pay the amount.

Report Crimes Within 30 Days Or Face Penalties

Did you know you are required to notify TREC within 30 days if you have been convicted of a crime even if you are already licensed?

The Texas Real Estate License Act states that if you have entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere or have been convicted of a felony or any criminal offense that involves fraud (including misdemeanors), you must disclose this to the Commission not later than the 30th day after the final conviction or the entry of a plea of guilty or nolo contendere.
