City of Dallas hosts Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook discussion

DALLAS -The City of Dallas Planning & Development Department will co-host an event Thursday, Oct. 15, featuring Lauren Lowery, Director of Housing and Community Development for the National League of Cities, to discuss the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a major bipartisan housing law signed in July 2026.

The legislation aims to increase the nation’s housing supply by reducing regulatory barriers, encouraging development, expanding financing opportunities, and modernizing federal housing programs. Lowery will break down the new law, explain what opportunities it could create for Dallas, and introduce the Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook, developed by the National League of Cities and American Planning Association. The playbook is a resource designed to support communities in navigating housing supply challenges.

“This is a timely discussion as we are in the process of updating our Dallas Development Code through the Dallas Zoning Reform initiative. We are very excited to welcome Ms. Lowery to discuss the Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook”, said Emily Liu, City of Dallas Planning and Development Director. Topics at the event will include:

  • What the new federal housing law means for Dallas
  • New opportunities for local housing solutions

  • The next generation’s housing future

The event will take place on from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Oak Cliff Assembly at 919 Morell Avenue, Suite 110.
