The City of Dallas Code Compliance Consumer Health Division recently met with the Dallas Love Field Airport Concession Management Group to discuss food safety preparedness and operational coordination ahead of increased visitor activity expected in the region.
The meeting focused on foodborne illness prevention strategies, food safety standards, and proactive planning measures to support airport restaurant operations during periods of higher customer volume. As one of the first and last impressions many travelers will have of Dallas, maintaining public health standards at Dallas Love Field remains a shared priority.
Through continued collaboration, proactive training, and strategic preparedness efforts, the City and airport partners remain focused on protecting public health and delivering a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience for both residents and visitors traveling through Dallas.

With Dallas preparing to host more than 80 events connected to FIFA World Cup activities, City of Dallas Code Compliance staff are already working behind the scenes to support event readiness across the city.
From permitting coordination and vendor outreach to food safety planning and operational reviews, staff are taking proactive steps to help ensure events operate smoothly and safely for residents and visitors.
One of the first major events on the calendar will be the Dallas Soccer Kick-Off Fest 2026, taking place on May 30 through May 31. In preparation, Code Compliance representatives recently joined vendors, community partners, and multiple City departments at the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce to discuss permitting requirements, inspection expectations, food safety standards, and event operations.
As large crowds, temporary vendors, and outdoor activities increase throughout the summer, Code Compliance personnel will continue working closely with organizers and businesses to support public health standards, community engagement, and event preparedness efforts across Dallas.

Mosquito season in Dallas officially runs from May 1 through October 30, and the City of Dallas Code Compliance Services continues proactive mosquito surveillance and treatment efforts throughout the city during this time period. The City maintains approximately 90 mosquito trap locations strategically placed across Dallas to monitor mosquito activity and test for the presence of West Nile Virus.
When a mosquito sample receives a confirmed positive test result through Dallas County Health and Human Services or the Texas Department of State Health Services laboratory, public notification information is typically updated at least 24 hours in advance of any planned ground spray operation.
Ground spraying operations are generally conducted during evening and overnight hours, beginning around 9:00 p.m., when mosquito activity is at its highest. Operations are carefully coordinated to account for environmental and public safety considerations. Spraying is not conducted during rain or high wind conditions, near bodies of water, or when residents and pets are present in treatment areas.
Residents are also encouraged to remember the Four Ds of mosquito prevention:
-
Drain standing water around homes and businesses • Dusk and Dawn are peak mosquito activity times • Dress in long sleeves and light-colored clothing when outdoors • DEET and other EPA-approved insect repellents should be used as directed.
Residents may also request placement on the City’s “Do Not Spray” list for properties where treatment is not desired along the property boundary.
For the latest mosquito control updates and public notices, residents are encouraged to visit https://www.dallascitynews.net/ and review current media releases related to mosquito control operations and suscribe for future notifications.

Our Nuisance Abatement team kicked off the summer with an employee appreciation event that included hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages on a stick, and steaks, along with all the fixings, drinks, and refreshing Kool-Aid pickles.
Staff enjoyed spending time eating and fellowshipping with one another, as well as with Director Chris Christian. Leadership also took the opportunity to serve the staff as a gesture of appreciation for the committed work they perform daily.
Nuisance Abatement is a great place to work, and all the team’s dedication and hard work are truly appreciated.

Kashopra began her career with the City of Dallas on May 20, 1998, as a Clerk 36, now known as an Office Assistant. Over the years, she advanced through positions including Inspector I and Inspector II before moving into management in 2009.
Throughout her career, Kashopra has managed multiple districts within Neighborhood Code, gaining extensive operational knowledge and leadership experience. She also oversaw the CDBG-funded Neighborhood Investment Program, where she developed a strong background in budgeting and program management.

Her dedication, experience, and commitment to public service continue to make a positive impact on the department and the community.
Congratulations to Kashopra on this well-deserved promotion.
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone starting their career with the City today?
Stay open to learning and prioritize building relationships. The City of Dallas is a huge organization with incredible opportunities for development and growth; by being collaborative and taking initiative, you can truly shape a career that makes a difference and open doors you may not expect.
What is one accomplishment in your career that you are most proud of?
Earning this recent promotion is a true highlight for me. It represents years of dedication to our community and reflects the incredible support I’ve received from my colleagues along the way. I’m excited to continue serving in this greater capacity, and I’m especially proud of the years of hard work, commitment, and investment that made this accomplishment possible.
Outside of work, what’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a big believer in embracing the “slow life” at home and truly value the comfort and peace my home brings me. When I’m not spending quality time with my family, I enjoy cooking and creating meaningful moments at home. My family is my greatest motivation and the center of everything I do.

James Kasper- Administrator
What interested you most about taking on this role?
What interested me most about accepting the Administrator position for Dallas Code Compliance was the opportunity to contribute on a larger scale and be a part of an organization with the resources, scope, and leadership potential to make a meaningful impact across an entire city. After spending years in code enforcement and developing programs, processes, and field experience, I was ready for a new challenge where I could apply that knowledge strategically while continuing to grow professionally.
What are your priorities during your first few months?
My priorities during the first few months will be to learn the organization thoroughly, build strong working relationships, and gain a clear understanding of the department’s current operations, challenges, and goals. I believe it is important to first listen and observe so I can understand what is working well, where support is needed, and how I can contribute most effectively.
What are you most looking forward to accomplishing here?
I am especially looking forward to contributing to a professional, structured, and collaborative work environment where staff feel supported, expectations are clear, and innovation is encouraged, I enjoy developing processes that improve efficiency, accountability, and service delivery while also mentoring and supporting employees so they can succeed in their roles.
Is there anything you’d like the team/community to know about you?
I would like the team and community to know that I believe strongly in professionalism, accountability, fairness, and leading by example. I believe in being approachable, respectful, and willing to work alongside the team to accomplish goals. I value communication, consistency, and creating an environment where people understand expectations and feel supported in doing their jobs effectively. I also believe that strong organizations are built through teamwork, trust, and a shared commitment to serving the community professionally.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and staying involved in projects that allow me to work with my hands and continue learning new things. With my background in construction and trades, I have always enjoyed building, repairing, and improving things, and I appreciate the sense of accomplishment that comes from seeing a project through from start to finish.
