Readout of Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson’s official visit to Montréal, Canada
Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson arrived in Montréal, Canada, on the evening of Tuesday, December 16, to meet with aerospace industry leaders and invite businesses to expand their presence in Dallas.
On Wednesday, December 17, Mayor Johnson began the day with a breakfast meeting focused on Canada’s aerospace industry hosted by the U.S. Consulate General in Montréal. He delivered remarks about Dallas’s vibrant business climate and invited Canadian aerospace companies to explore investment in Dallas.
Representatives from Aero Montréal, the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, Bell Textron, Bombardier, CAE, and Héroux-Devtek were in attendance. Bombardier has a major maintenance, repair, and operations center at Dallas Love Field Airport, and CAE operates the largest corporate aviation training center in the world at DFW International Airport.
After this event, Mayor Johnson met at Bombardier headquarters with Zeshan Malik, its vice president of global expansion and corporate strategy. He toured the company’s operations at the Laurent Beaudoin Completion Center and discussed both Bombardier's tremendous growth and opportunities for the company to enhance its partnership with the City of Dallas.
Mayor Johnson then joined Pierre Cléroux, vice president of research and chief economist for the Business Development Bank of Canada, for lunch, and they discussed business and economic challenges common to Dallas and Montréal, as well as opportunities for and drivers of Canadian direct investment in Dallas.
That afternoon, Mayor Johnson met with Phillipe Ritchot, vice president of partnerships at iGotcha Media, to discuss their transparent LED display technology and potential opportunities for innovative public uses of this technology.
Mayor Johnson then met with Felix Marzell, the co-founder and president of LeMonde Studio, which will be creating and installing 17 interactive art installations in Dallas ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Later in the evening, Mayor Johnson departed Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport for DFW International Airport.
