Howdy, Neighbor!
Thank you for reading our last Good Neighbor Program newsletter of 2025!
The Department of Aviation thanks you for your support and engagement throughout the year and wishes you a holiday season full of joy, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. Happy Holidays!
Since our last newsletter and community meeting, the Mockingbird Lane roadway improvement project by the Department of Transportation and Public Works continues to make progress. At its completion, traffic flow and road safety are expected to be significantly improved.
This edition features recent achievements and some exciting community engagement initiatives that we are proud to share.
As we look ahead to 2026, we will be reshaping and renaming the quarterly community meetings to better serve you, our neighbors. We invite you to participate in the discussions during our next meeting on January 27, 2026. We can't wait to hear your ideas!
DAL Praised for Consecutive Perfect FAA Inspections
After achieving our second consecutive perfect inspection score by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) earlier this year, Dallas Love Field was recognized by the Dallas City Council on November 5.
“This rigorous and federally regulated inspection monitors compliance with safety and emergency response requirements,” City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert said in her speech. “This achievement shows the level of dedication and hard work that the DAL team possesses. I sincerely thank each division and every employee for your part in making DAL a beacon of excellence in our city. Continue to soar to new heights.”
Staff Host Donation Drive to Support Federal Workers
As the recent government shutdown became the longest in U.S. history, AVI staff stepped up to the plate by hosting and contributing to their own donation drive to support over 300 unpaid federal workers at Dallas Love Field.
Airline staff and the community-at-large also participated in the drive, leading to the collection of thousands of items, including non-perishable foods, personal hygiene products, and gift cards.
Every news channel in town covered the story, showing our caring spirit. CLICK to view a report from CBS Texas.
  Airport Conference Center Closes
The Flight Deck Conference Center (FDCC) is permanently closed, effective December 17.
The closure comes as plans move forward to renovate the space to better serve travelers and the community-at-large.
More information will be available in the near future.
Students Explore STEM Fields in Aviation
Hundreds of students from several school districts in the DFW metroplex attended our very first “BITTS Pop-up” in partnership with the Barrington Irving Technical Training School (BITTS) on October 22.
The enthusiastic future aviation leaders were kept busy with interactive STEM stations and a behind-the-scenes tour of our award-winning airport. They also heard from guest speaker Barrington Irving, a well sought-after speaker, and a two-time Guinness World Records holder who is the first Black pilot to fly solo around the world and was once the youngest person to do so.
DAL Among Select U.S. Airports Testing eGates
The CLEAR eGate pilot program, recently launched at Dallas Love Field, aims to modernize airport security and enhance the traveler experience ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The eGates utilize biometric verification to expedite identity checks, allowing CLEAR members to bypass TSA agents and enter screening lanes directly.

Final Open House Solidifies Master Plan
The Dallas Love Field Master Plan shifted into high gear as elements of the preferred Master Plan were revealed during the fifth and final Open House on December 2, signaling the conclusion of the planning process.
It was determined that significant terminal expansion and improvements would be required to meet both future and current demand levels.

Teaming up with the Mavs to Unveil Park Upgrades
We teamed up with the Dallas Mavericks and the city’s Park and Recreation department on October 14 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of the newly renovated Midway Manor Park.
“This is a year and a half of hard work of our capital team,” Deputy Director of Finance, People, and Culture Sheneice Hughes boasted. “Every element was designed to foster meaningful community connections with our neighbors.”
Sponsored by The Mavericks, the park’s new basketball court boasts a Dallas Mavericks-branded design, showcasing the team’s signature blue and green colors.
