Dallas – On October 25, 2025 residents and visitors are invited to attend an artist talk to learn from American photographer Brent Kollock, and the four-year journey into the heart of Mexico. His experiences are documented in the new photo book about Mexico’s national sport–the traditional rodeo form of Charrería. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bath House Cultural Center and is free and open to the public.
In Kollock’s new book “Charrería, Mexico’s National Treasure”, there are themes of family, friendship, chivalry, and history that can be captured by readers. Using only vintage Nikon lenses the photos, rendered in black and white, the collaboration between photographer and participant is examined. The book serves as a document, both visual and written, that captures the essence and the deeply important aspects of Mexican culture performed so often in this living history. Kollock invites readers to see the behind-the-scenes moments and takes readers to perspectives in front of the action providing a deep look into the soul of Mexico and a major part of its identity.
Currently living and working in western Mexico, Brent Kollock is a native Texan that has spent the last 35+ years making various types of art, especially that of photography. For Kollock, publishing books of poetry, painting and drawing, has been the chosen means of expression for the author. Having done shows all over the world Kollock strives to tell stories that are interesting, exciting and about subjects not well-known, taking deeper dive into the subject and show sides that are not normally seen. Kollock hopes to share the great stories found in Mexico for all to experience.
