DALLAS - This summer, the mission is urgent, the stakes are high—and community lifesaving operatives are needed. Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is launching “Mission Pawsible”, a city-wide adoption and foster push from July 1–31, with one bold target—get 1,200 pets into loving homes by month’s end.

Inspired by a summer blockbuster thriller and the unwavering spirit of Dallas residents, Mission Pawsible transforms every adopter into a lifesaving operative on a mission to give a home to a pet in need.

“We know Dallas doesn’t back down from a challenge,” says Paul Ramon, Director of Dallas Animal Services. “Last year, the Dallas community adopted more than 12,000 pets from DAS, making our shelter one of the top-performing in the nation. We are on track for another banner year of adoptions, and we’re calling on every neighborhood, family, and pet lover to step up, save a life, and be the Mission Pawsible hero these pets are waiting for.”

Rooted in the Dallas90 initiative and as DAS strives to sustain a 90% save rate, Mission Pawsible aims to supercharge community engagement and pet adoptions during the shelter’s busiest season.

“Dallas Animal Services is stepping up in a big way to save lives this summer,” said Sophia Proler, South Central Director for Best Friends Animal Society. “At a time when shelters across Texas are overcrowded, this campaign is exactly the kind of creative, community-driven action that makes a real difference—and it’s why DAS led the state in adoptions in 2024. We’re proud to support their work and every adopter who answers this call to help pets in need.”

Not only is it free to adopt throughout July, but thanks to Friends of Dallas Animal Services, adopters will also experience:

  • Limited addition Mission Pawsible T-Shirts for the first 1,200 adopters
  • Community Challenge—refer a friend to adopt from DAS, and if they mention your name, both of you will be entered to win one of five pet-themed gift baskets (valued at $100 each). No purchase necessary—just a shared mission to save lives.
  • Themed weekends with giveaways, photo ops, and adoption spotlights
  • “Ready for Deployment” pet profiles highlighting adoptable pets prepped for their next mission
  • A live Mission Dashboard showing real-time adoption progress toward the 1,200 goal

Dallasites ready to accept the Mission Pawsible Challenge can visit BeDallas90.org or Dallas Animal Services at 1818 North Westmoreland Road from 11am-7pm Monday-Friday and 11am-6pm, Saturday and Sunday to take home an adoptable pet and become a mission hero.
