Rendering of Buckner Station Mixed-use Apartments

City Council Approves $14.5 Million Economic Development Incentive to Support $107 Million Buckner Station Project 

On May 14th, Dallas City Council unanimously approved a $14.5 million incentive to support the development of the Palladium Buckner Station Project, a proposed mixed-income and transit-oriented development project in the Pleasant Grove area of southeast Dallas. The project will be developed at the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Buckner Light Rail Station, located at 8008 Elam Road, and will transform an underutilized surface parking lot into more than 300 high quality mixed-income apartments. The project, led by Palladium USA Inc., is being developed in partnership with the Dallas Housing Finance Corporation.

Groundbreaking University Hills

City Officials Celebrate Groundbreaking for University Hills Mixed-Use Development by UNT-Dallas

On May 12, City officials celebrated the ground-breaking for the first phase of the University Hills Development, which will bring more than 500 new single-family houses, 200 apartments and 30,000 square feet of commercial space to the University of North Texas - Dallas (UNT-Dallas) area. The project, led by Hoque Global, is supported by funding from the  University TIF District and aligns with the UNT-Dallas Area Plan that City Council approved in 2009. The total project is expected to encompass 270 acres and has a total project cost of approximately $1 billion.

New Fire Station Coming to Downtown Dallas

Downtown Dallas will gain a new and improved Fire Station No. 18 in 2028. On May 14, 2025, City Council authorized a Public/Private Partnership with an affiliate of Headington Companies to construct a new fire station one block away from the current location of the station.
