Reminder: City of Dallas Unveils New Bachman Lake Skatepark

What

Professionally designed by skaters for skaters, this is Dallas’s first large-scale, concrete inground skatepark built to accommodate rollerblades, BMX bikes, scooters, and skateboards. The $3.9 million project was funded through the city’s 2017 bond program.

The 45,600-square-foot park will appeal to all levels of skaters with features that include the Street Scape Area, Flow Bowl, Snake Run, and Pool Bowl. The park signals the return of Bachman Lake as a popular skateboarding destination. During the 1980s, Bachman was legendary for its pinball-lighted Clown Ramp and Blue Ramp that attracted skaters from across the country.

This much-anticipated special-interest park will be Dallas’ second outdoor skating facility. The city’s only other skate park is Lakeland Hills Skate Park. That facility is made of prefabricated interchangeable modulars set on a concrete slab.
