Community Resources Hub-

The City of Dallas’ Community Resources Hub connects residents with existing resources to enhance the quality of life for all in Dallas. Search for free or reduced cost services such as food, healthcare, job-seeker and legal assistance, and more. Search results are available in 110 Different Languages. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training- Saturday Nov. 9

Dallas CERT training emphasizes accountability for yourself, your family, and your community by stressing the importance of personal preparedness and accountability. Our CERT volunteer members are expected to have an awareness of their neighborhoods, and to pre-determine possible evacuation sites that will facilitate effective, safe, and rapid response ​to emergencies.​​ The CERT program teaches our volunteer members about disaster preparedness for hazards that affect our area. The program trains you in basic disaster response skills (fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations). CERT also offers a one-day online class that serves as an introduction to the CERT Basic three-day course. For more information click HERE.

Language Access- UbiDuo

The Office of Equity and Inclusion is excited to introduce the UbiDuo, a powerful communication device that helps bridge the gap between individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impairments and City staff. This tool plays a vital role in increasing language access and ensuring every resident’s voice is heard. The City of Dallas is committed to the safety and well-being of our residents. The Dallas Alert program is an emergency notification system developed to enhance the ability of the City of Dallas to provide public safety related notifications to residents and businesses during emergencies. 4th Annual Diwali Celebration- 12:00 to 2:00pm Saturday Nov 2

What is Diwali? Diwali is a major holiday throughout India, and many religions celebrate it. One way to observe this holiday is by lighting small oil lamps known as ‘diyas’ in honor of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and good fortune. Practical Estate Planning to Avoid Probate- 10:00 to 11:30am Wednesday Nov. 6

The Office of Community Care presents this age-friendly estate planning event. Topics covered will be: transfer on Death Deeds, Lady Bird Deeds, Advance Directives/Living Wills, Power of Attorney (Medical & Durable), Designation of Beneficiaries and more. Abrams/Skillman Corridor Transportation Safety Study- 5:30 to 7:00pm Thursday Nov. 7

The Dallas Department of Transportation & Public Works will host a second public meeting to discuss recommended transportation safety improvements and account for resident input given in September for Abrams Road between Richmond Avenue and Northwest Highway, and for Skillman Street between Live Oak Street and Abrams Road. This meeting is a follow-up meeting to a Sept. 10, 2024, discussion about this corridor. For more information click HERE.

Feast of Sharing: 18th Annual Holiday Dinner- 3:00 to 7:00pm Friday Nov. 8

Free Fall: Hard Blues and Harmolodics Firm Rooted Jazz Series at the Bath House Cultural Center. With firm roots planted within the traditions of so called straight ahead, free, bebop, avant garde, swing, and experimental jazz, each showcase will feature various local musicians, each who feverishly pursue an endless sonic quest within the many realms of jazz music. Enhanced Library Card-

The Enhanced Library Card (ELC) is a library card that contains a person’s full name, home address, date of birth, and picture. In addition to all the benefits of a regular library card, it can serve as a method for verifying identity, particularly for individuals that face barriers getting a state or federal ID. You will need to consult with the organizations/entities with which you would like to use the Enhanced Library Card as part of establishing your identity to determine if/how the Enhanced Library Card can be used for this purpose. Osaka, Japan World Expo Opportunity-

A History of the U.S. Marine Corps- 2:00 to 3:00pm Wednesday Nov 6

Just in time for Veterans' Day, we follow the history of the USMC and its veterans through 249 years of service. Learn about how the U.S. Marine Corps started, key battles that the Marine Corps participated in, and more! Explore how to trace a Marine Corps unit's military history to better understand the life and service of the USMC veteran in your family. Librarian Samantha Diaz will also spotlight DPL's Veterans Oral History Project interviews recorded at the Dallas Public Library. For more information click HERE.

Betrayal of Justice: A Buffalo Soldier Story Documentary Screening- 1:00 to 3:00pm Saturday Nov 9

Directed and produced by Dallas based filmmaker Lindell Singleton, this documentary short film tells the story of the 18 members of the 24th Infantry "Buffalo Soldiers" who were executed in 1917 in the aftermath of a tragedy at Camp Logan in Houston, Texas. They were summarily convicted by the U.S. military of a crime to which many believe the majority of those convicted had no involvement. The screening will be conclude with a panel discussion of the event and why it is still relevant today, and an audience Q&A. For more information click HERE.

North TX United Nations Youth Town Hall- 10:00am to 12:00pm Saturday Nov. 16

You’re invited to participate as a delegate to the Youth Observer at the United Nations during the North Texas Town Hall. The event is open to youth, young professionals, and those who work with them. We are extending a special invitation to University and High School campus organizations that are engaged in addressing global issues and human rights. The UN Town Hall will provide a platform for discussing the most pressing issues in the minds of our youth and young professionals. Grant Opportunity- Deadline 12:00pm Thursday Nov. 7

The Dallas Jewish Community Foundation invites you to apply for the Jill Stone Foundation Endowment Fund of the DJCF. Jill Stone was a beloved volunteer for many years at Vickery Meadow Elementary School. In recognition of her many contributions in June 2005, DISD Board of Trustees voted to rename Vickery Meadow Elementary School to Jill Stone Elementary School at Vickery Meadow. Her family has now created this fund to ensure the agencies that provide for this special community are still being taken care of, just like Jill took care of their children for many years. This year the fund will award 2 $1,900 grants. This grant was created to assist agencies that directly provide services to the residents of Vickery Meadow. Click HERE for the application. Our mission is to advance equity, inclusion, and social justice so all Dallasites can thrive. The office relies on the use of disaggregated data, community outreach, and resident voices to support the City of Dallas in understanding and addressing disparities to improve outcomes for all residents. Promotes the economic, civic, and social engagement of immigrants and refugees residing in Dallas.

Reduces disparities and increases opportunities for all residents by providing the necessary resources and services to thrive in each person’s own unique identities, circumstances, and histories.

Code Compliance

The City of Dallas Code Compliance Department consists of three divisions: Neighborhood Code, Nuisance Abatement, and Consumer Health.  Code Compliance ensures city codes, and ordinances are maintained, so Dallas continues to be a clean and safe city. Code Compliance does this by working with neighborhoods by providing education and building partnerships with non-profits, neighborhood associations, and other City of Dallas departments.

The Office of Homeless Solutions was designed to be the change agents in the homeless community. With the help of partnering organizations and community members like you, we offer strategic initiatives and street outreach to overcome homelessness throughout the city by implementing initiatives with consistency, transparency, and accountability. Our innovative solutions ensure our homeless neighbors receive food, shelter, housing, help to overcome barriers, and opportunities for a better life. We seek to provide public and private partners with the tools, resources, and opportunities to join the cause and help unsheltered individuals in our community.

Boards & Commissions

The Mayor and City Council are​ very interested in you serving as a member of a City of Dallas Board or Commission. As an interested resident and community leader, you can provide invaluable service to the City of Dallas through your membership​​ and participation. Board and Commission members volunteer many hours annually sharing their time and expertise and enjoy learning more about the City through their membership.
