![Hello Summer](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/TXDALLAS/2024/05/9547781/5484790/hello-summer_crop.jpg) Dog Days of Summer
Join us for more sun, more fun, and more DAS for our Dog Days of Summer event June 20th. We are excited to celebrate the longest day of the year with our extended hours from 8AM-8PM. That's more time for adoptions, foster, and volunteer opportunities!
There will be 5 shifts available for the event; one shift from 6-8 AM dedicated to kennel cleaning, and four 3-hour shifts during the event to help engage with potential adopters/fosters, leading meet and greets, and to help clean kennels. If you have not had your Canine Handling training, you can arrive 30 minutes prior to your shift for an impromptu training to lead meet and greets. Help us make the most of the longest day of the year by signing up for a shift!
Kennel Cleaning Party
To gear up for our Dog Days of Summer event we are teaming up with our Animal Care team and hosting a special kennel care training on Saturday, June 15th, from 8am-10am and focusing on kennel cleaning. Help us improve and maintain the health of the facility by signing up for this optional kennel cleaning training.

Have you noticed? We've made some exciting updates on My Impact! Opportunities descriptions, such as kennel care and laundry, are now available in Spanish. You can start exploring opportunities and descriptions in both languages. To help you distinguish, all Spanish information will be italicized. Keep an eye out, as you'll gradually see more and more opportunities presented this way.

Volunteer Shout Out!
Every newsletter we try to randomly select an active volunteer to recognize for all of their hard work! This month, we would like to shout out Chloe Braaten. Thank you for everything you do as a volunteer.
Do you have any pets at home?
I have one dog who’s been my best friend for 8 years.
What is your favorite volunteer position?
I love taking dogs out and getting photos and videos for social media. It’s crazy how much attention one video can get for a dog!
What is your favorite part about volunteering with DAS?
Seeing the happy endings is by far the best part. My photo is with Doja (now Millie) who ended up in a wonderful home.
Do you have a favorite DAS story to share?
One of my favorite outcomes is the story of Talulah, who now goes by Helena. She had been in the shelter for over a month, and really didn’t have any notes or photos. I saw she was urgent and decided to take her out and see what she was like. I quickly realized she was an incredible dog. Some of DAS's rescue partners happened to walk by and I decided to try my best to get Talulah tagged by them. Talulah *completely* won them over. She didn’t even need my help! She was tagged by the rescue and now lives with her amazing family in Brooklyn. Just this weekend she was sailing on a boat with her brother and parents!
