Ribbon cutting ceremony at RedBird Innovation Center

Dallas Entrepreneur Center Celebrates Opening of the Redbird Innovation Center 

City officials, local entrepreneurs and community members joined the Dallas Entrepreneur Center (DEC) to celebrate the opening of the Redbird Innovation Center om April 11th. As part of the new Shops at RedBird, the $2.4 million, 20,000-square-foot coworking space aims to encourage and inspire local entrepreneurs and serve as a catalyst for economic growth and community development in the region. The space is run by The DEC Network, a Dallas-based nonprofit.  

With 120 co-working/hot desks, 48 dedicated desks, 19 dedicated offices, two podcasting rooms, and office suites available for rent, the Innovation Center offers plenty of options for entrepreneurs. The Center also offers business accelerator programs for all stages of business with cash prizes up to $20,000 and a capital access resource area to connect founders to funding information and opportunities.

Applications for Childcare Facility Abatements Due Soon

After Texas voters approved Proposition 2 last fall to authorize property tax abatements for certain childcare facilities, both the City of Dallas and Dallas County voted to allow qualified Dallas childcare businesses to take advantage of this new abatement, which would provide a 100% abatement of City and County property taxes for these businesses. To qualify, an owner or operator must participate in the Texas Rising Star Program and at least 20% of enrolled children must receive Texas Workforce Commission childcare services subsidies. Applications for the abatement must be received by Dallas County Appraisal District by April 30  >Read more
