DALLAS - The City of Dallas will soon be changing the way the Development Services Department (DSD) processes commercial permits.
Starting March 1, 2024, this strategic move is aimed at streamlining operations, enhancing efficiency and contributing to environmental sustainability.
The new paperless permitting system is a testament to the City’s commitment to innovation and customer service. This digital transformation will not only expedite the permitting process but also allow DSD to focus more resources on customer service.
Key features of the paperless permitting process include:
-
Online Application Submittal: Applicants can now submit any commercial permit applications seamlessly through the City’s online submittal portal, ProjectDox, eliminating errors that result from manually inputting data from paper forms.
-
Electronic Plan Review: DSD will conduct plan review digitally, fostering quicker turnaround times and minimizing the environmental footprint associated with traditional paper submittal review processes.
-
Automated Notifications: Applicants will receive real-time updates on the statues of their permits, ensuring transparency and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the process.
-
Digital Document Access: Accessing and retrieving permit-related documents is now simplified through the City’s secure online platform.
“The transition to paperless permitting aligns with our Service First culture,” said Andrew Espinoza, director of DSD. “This is a significant leap forward in our commitment to serving the Development community as efficient as possible.”
To learn how to use ProjectDox, the City’s online submittal portal, customers can register for one of the following Building Dallas Together training sessions at the DSD Training Center located at 400 S Zang Blvd, C95, Dallas, TX 75208:
